Making a Purchase/ Establishing a contract

On placing an order with TOKONOMA you will subsequently receive an e-mail confirming receipt and the details of your order. The order you place represents an offer to purchase a product which is accepted by us when we process the payment and dispatch the order to you. Any products within the same order which are not charged for or dispatched are not included within that same contract. TOKONOMA reserves the right to refuse an order at any time. This may be due to stock levels, a problem processing the payment or an error identified within the product information supplied, including price or promotion. We will of course contact you if for any reason there is a problem with your order.

Availability and Pricing

All orders are subject to availability. You will be contacted by TOKONOMA if an item purchased is unfortunately not available.

All prices shown are correct at the time of publication. Prices are shown in GBP (£) and include VAT, currently charged at 20%. VAT will be charged on all orders delivered within the EU. Prices which are not indicated on its website, will be disclosed with enquiry.

If your order is to be delivered outside the European Union, it may attract import duty and local sales taxes which customers will need to pay on receipt of the shipment. Any additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you. These rules vary by country and your local government determines duty and customs charges, so you should contact your local customs office for further information.

Accuracy of Information

TOKONOMA will repeatedly check the accuracy of the information supplied on the Website. However, despite our best efforts, we cannot guarantee that all product information is error free. All sizes and measurements provided are approximate to the nearest centimetre or half-inch.

Payment

We accept payment in cash, by cheque or bank transfer. Our bank details are shown on the invoice.

Cancelled Orders

If you wish to cancel your purchase please contact us at junko@tokonomatokyo.com If the order has been dispatched you will need to follow the returns policy as stated below. Please note cancelled orders involving personalisation will be charged for in full if personalisation has been carried out.

Returns

If you are unhappy with a purchase, please contact us quoting your invoice number, no later than 14 days from the date you receive your purchase. Provided the item is in saleable condition, we will credit the amount against a future purchase or refund, along with any standard delivery charges.

Please contact TOKONOMA by email or telephone prior to returning the item.

Made to order pieces can only be returned or exchanged if there is a fault with the piece. Every effort must be made for faults to be reported to TOKONOMA within 14 days of delivery or collection.

SUITABILITY OF GOODS

Whilst every effort is made by TOKONOMA and its external houses to ensure that your goods are received in the best condition, we ask that you inspect all items immediately upon delivery or collection. It is the customer’s responsibility, regardless of the delivery address, to ensure that the goods are as ordered and are of satisfactory quality in every respect on delivery.

CONFIRMATION OF ORDERS & PRODUCTION

In terms of made to order pieces, We ask 50% deposit on all our orders before production commences. A delay in receipt of deposits will impact on the final delivery date.  Deposit payments are confirmation of your order,  if you would like to make changes to specifications once the initial 50% deposit payment has been made, TOKONOMA will assist where possible but this could impact on delivery dates and incur further charges which we will notify you of in advance. The outstanding balance must be paid before dispatch of goods.

DELIVERY

The customer shall cover the delivery cost. We are happy to provide quotations for carriage, shipping and packing on confirmation of delivery address or alternatively you can arrange this. TOKONOMA cannot take responsibility for any goods damaged in transit so appropriate insurance must be included by the shipping company to cover any possible damage. We are most likely to use Royal Mail Special Delivery which covers loss and damage to suitable levels. 

REPAIR

Depending on the item and the extent of damage it may be possible to repair damaged item.

Please enquire and we will do our best to arrange repair. In the event an item is sent to the artist for repair the owner of the piece shall bear the costs involved which will be detailed in advance.

LIABILITY

In all cases TOKONOMA supplies goods on condition that our liability for any fault or defect in quality is limited in amount to a sum not exceeding the purchase price of the goods supplied.

ADVICE & GUARANTEES

All advice given by TOKONOMA, in person, by telephone or via the website, is given in good faith and with the intention of enabling the customer to achieve the best possible results with our goods. TOKONOMA makes no specific guarantees as to the suitability of any of our goods unless we receive a request for a formal written guarantee prior to the sale taking place. All other advice given by TOKONOMA is therefore to be taken as such and is not a firm guarantee of suitability or longevity of the goods.

FAULTY OR DAMAGED GOODS

Any requests for returns or exchanges of goods damaged during delivery, or goods with faults, must be raised with Howe London within 14 days of delivery or collection. Any claims made after that period will not be accepted. If a longer claim period is required due to exceptional circumstances we must be informed prior to payment of the invoice. All damage or fault claims need to be supported with photographic evidence. In these cases TOKONOMA will cover the costs of delivery and collection to and from the customer and either an exchange or a full refund will be given.

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

TOKONOMA is happy to provide general care recommendations for Japanese arts and crafts which we deal -Ceramics/Lacquerware/Cast Iron/Bamboo- in addition to information for particular item the customer has purchased from us. Please use the enquiry form if you would like general care advice for Japanese craft items.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY & MARKETING 

All intellectual property in deliverables and the process that TOKONOMA uses to generate such deliverables remains the exclusive property of TOKONOMA save to the extent expressively assigned or licensed to the customer in writing and agreed by TOKONOMA.

Unless requested by the client at the quotation stage, we reserve the right to use pictures of the final products for marketing purposes.
